Celtic are reportedly in a brilliant position to sign striker Kasper Hogh from Bodo/Glimt, the side that has been impressing in the Champions League this season.
The Hoops have been tracking the player for some time, and they tried to attract him to the club during the winter transfer window. They were unable to get a deal over the line, but they are set to reignite their interest in the summer.
The Celts won't be the only side that is interested in his signature though, with Leeds United also chasing the star man. The English Premier League side is "finding it difficult" to sign Hogh as a result of their not offering European football. Celtic have the advantage, with hopes of Champions League football for next season still alive for the Glasgow giants.
Hogh has been in fine form for Bodo/Glimt this season, with six goals and three assists in 13 European appearances this season. He has managed to score in massive games against top sides like Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan, with him even managing to bag a brace against Pep Guardiola's side.
Bodo/Glimt are aware that clubs will be desperate to sign him up, and they value the striker at £16 million. It is a fee that Celtic would be able to afford, but whether the board are willing to part with the cash remains to be seen.
Hogh could be a revelation for Celtic
Hogh could quickly become one of Celtic's top players if he were to complete a move to Scotland. He would undoubtedly offer us goals in the Scottish Premiership, and he would be a player that the next manager could rely on in European matches.
He is incredibly talented, and if more creative players are brought in, he could thrive even more. Striker is a priority for the Celts, and with Hogh seeming like the perfect option in that position, one of the roles that the focus should turn to is a new winger.
Celtic tried to bring another wideman through the door in January in Joel Mvuka, but he has failed to impress so far. After a bad performance on his debut, he was omitted from the squad, and when he eventually made his return against Rangers in the Scottish Cup, he still didn't offer much. Now, it seems as though he'll return to his parent club at the end of the season without playing many games for the Celts.
Thankfully, players like Yang have been finding their form, with the South Korean smashing a Scottish Premiership record at the weekend against Motherwell. Even if Hogh were to come to the club, we'd need to get in new talent, as well as rely on brilliant players like Yang to ensure that he can hit the heights he promises on paper.
