Celtic are reportedly willing to sell striker Johnny Kenny in the summer after he returns to the club. If the Hoops manage to get their transfer targets through the door, he will likely be pushed down the pecking order. This could pave the way for his exit.

According to Football Insider, Celtic view a new striker as one of their major priorities going into the summer window, with all options this season failing to impress. The club are reportedly 'set to be ruthless' in the window, meaning Kenny could be ousted.

Kenny got a brief run in the Celtic first team under Martin O'Neill during his first spell in charge this season, but was ultimately dropped to the bench after missing a series of big chances. In January, he was sent out on loan to Bolton, where he has one goal and three assists in six appearances.

Bolton could be a potential option for the Irishman if both parties are interested in a move, with him clearly enjoying his football down in England.

Kenny keen to impress at Celtic, but has the boat sailed?

At the weekend, Kenny revealed in an interview that he is keen to prove himself at Celtic when he returns to the club, but he may have run out of time. He described playing for the Hoops on a regular basis as 'the dream', but will that dream become a reality?

It seems unlikely now, but stranger things have happened in football. Kenny is contracted to the club until the summer of 2029, so they do not need to sell him so soon, meaning he could remain at the club if both he and the board are keen on it.

He would likely be the only striker at the club at the end of the season, with all current options seemingly set to leave. Junior Adamu will return to his club, Tomas Cvancara won't be pursued after he has failed to impress, and it's unlikely that Kelechi Iheanacho will get a contract extension.

However, it wouldn't be the case for long as the Celts are already on the hunt, with Hearts forward Claudio Braga being at the top of the list. Celtic would need to pay at least £5 million to bring him to the club, but it's an affordable deal.

Elsewhere, the club are interested in young striker Ali Avila, with options from Portsmouth available as well.
