Last week, it was revealed that Celtic have sent scouts across the border to keep an eye on Sheffield United striker Tyrese Campbell. The Championship star is also being watched by rivals Rangers, meaning that a battle for his signature could be on our hands.

Both Celtic and Rangers saw approaches for Campbell shut down earlier in the season, but both are set to reignite their interest in the summer. Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has finally addressed his future, but kept his answers vague.

He said: "He's under contract. Those discussions that will be going on, and if he's with us, then I will be demanding. I won't be asking. There'll be no shortcuts for anybody.

"But getting Ty back up to the levels in the season that he had last season will be key. And if I do and we do, then we've got a really good player on our hands. But the future will take care of itself."

Campbell's contract runs until 2027, but it is expected that he will move elsewhere ahead of next season.

Celtic should move for Campbell - but prepare for a fight

Not only will Sheffield United want to extend Campbell's contract, but more clubs than just the two Glasgow sides will be interested in his services. Celtic are already going to have to fight off the Gers, so adding competition to that will be difficult.

Should the deal fall through, Celtic are already making enquiries about other options. One player under a lot of interest is Mexican striker Ali Avila, who, at 22-years-old, has scored eight goals in 19 games.

The Hoops may look to more experienced strikers though, with a move planned for Bodo/Glimt star Kasper Hogh. The striker has impressed in the UEFA Champions League this season, and he would be a fantastic option for the Parkhead side.

Closer to home, Johnny Kenny is keen to prove himself in a Celtic shirt. The striker is out on loan at Bolton and has been showing what he can do, and although the club are willing to sell him in the summer, he has made it clear that he sees the Glasgow side as a long-term option for him.

Whoever comes in won't be working under Martin O'Neill, but whoever comes through the doors of Celtic Park next. Currently, Robbie Keane and Jens Berthel Askou seem to be the most likely options, but anything could change from now until the end of the season.
