Celtic are making another move for the upcoming transfer window as officials from the club have sent scouts to check in on a Sheffield United star.
United man Tyrese Campbell has played a major part in the club this season. With 34 appearances for the Blades this season in the English Championship, he has managed to bag six goals. However, his contract is up in 2027, and now, it's apparent that the reigning Scottish champions will make a move in an attempt to force United to cash in.
The player has been dubbed "fantastic" by the United manager, and he could be a bargain choice for the Hoops, with officials from the club paying close attention to him. The striker could have a massive impact in Scotland, and with many options currently at the club set to leave in the summer, he could end up being one of the first signings made.
However, it isn't just Celtic that are interested in his signing, as rivals Rangers are also keen on the player. The interest extends all the way back to 2020, when both sides were eager to sign him up at the end of his contract at Stoke.
This time around, he may be interested in a move north of the border. He could still be convinced to sign a new deal with United, but with time running out, it seems more and more likely that one of the Glasgow sides will end up with the player on their books.
Current strikers set to leave
Celtic currently has Tomas Cvancara, Junior Adamu, Kelechi Iheanacho and Johnny Kenny at the club. Kenny is out on loan and is performing well at Bolton, but it's unlikely any of the other strikers will be kept.
Iheanacho's contract is expiring, and although he was given a runout against Dundee United in the 2-0 loss, he didn't manage to impress. After only a season at the club, he will certainly be departing.
Cvancara is keen on a permanent move to Celtic but probably won't be signed up. He hasn't managed to win over supporters during his loan deal, having only scored twice, once from the penalty spot, and he will be heading back to his parent club when that deal expires.
Adamu is also here on loan and again, he hasn't shown anything impressive. He did score a goal that saved Celtic on his debut, but since then, it has just been a downward spiral for the striker.
Hopefully, there will be better options up front in that central position, and it would be ideal if Campbell ended up being one of them.
