The Eddie Howe to Celtic transfer saga has already taken quite a few twists and turns, as the club continue their search for a new manager.

Howe has a big reputation from his time back in England, where he took Bournemouth from League Two to the Premier League over his two stints there. And he kept them in the top flight of English football for five years, a brilliant achievement for any manager.

As a result, it is only natural that there is interest in him from clubs in the Premier League. And while a week or so back it had looked like it was only a matter of time before he arrived at Parkhead, now doubts have emerged as Crystal Palace appear to be in the running for his signature as well.

But Chris Sutton believes that Howe will choose the Hoops over Crystal Palace if he has ‘real ambition’. While speaking on the Record Celtic Podcast and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, he said:

"“If he has real ambition, of course he’s going to choose Celtic over Crystal Palace. Anybody can see that – it’s an easy one.”"

Will Howe choose Celtic over Crystal Palace?

This is a tough one to be honest. At the end of the day, Crystal Palace are in the Premier League and as a result, they will be an attractive proposition to a manager. It is not just the financial side of things but managing in the Premier League as well.

On the other hand, the ceiling at Parkhead might be even higher if Howe can succeed in the role. The Hoops will give him the chance to guide the team to the UEFA Champions League.

Also, the Hoops are a team that compete for trophies on a consistent basis. On the other hand, Howe is yet to win a top division title. And if his ultimate ambition is to return to the Premier League, he can look at the examples of Brendan Rodgers and Martin O’Neill, both of whom went directly from Parkhead to big clubs in England.
