When Ange Postecoglou left Celtic for Tottenham Hotspur after the end of last season, many wondered what kind of an effect it would have on Kyogo. The Japanese forward had been absolutely brilliant under the management of the Australian. But could he replicate that with a new manager in place?

Brendan Rodgers ended up replacing Postecoglou at Parkhead. And it is safe to say that Kyogo has already answered his doubters.

Kyogo has continued to be the main man for Celtic this season. According to stats from Transfermartkt, he has scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists in 6 appearances this season till now.

That has included important goals like the brilliant winner from outside the box at Ibrox against the Rangers. And on top of everything else, he has signed a new long-term contract extension with the club as well, ending all speculation about an exit for the time being. He is 28 years of age now and looks set to spend his prime at Parkhead.

BBC pundit makes sensational claim about Celtic hero Kyogo

As reported by Glasgow Live, BBC Sportscene pundit Stephen Craigan said about Kyogo:

"“That is what he is the master of and without bigging him up too much he is as close to Henrik Larsson as a striker that Celtic have had since he left. He waits for defenders to close the shoulders and turn away, then makes his move.“He doesn’t allow defenders to catch him or catch his eye. He waits until they switch off. His timing is perfect.“Look at how many goals he gets inside the double six-yard box. How often does he find space in that area? It can’t be luck. It is clearly something he has. He’s instinctive, he is aware, anticipates defenders movements and also the ball coming in. Top class.”"

Kyogo’s biggest quality is certainly his movement. It has been more than two years since he arrived and Premiership defenders still have not found a way to deal with it. The Japanese forward just always seems to be at the right place at the right time.

Of course, a big test is coming up for Kyogo next as Celtic take on Feyenoord in the Champions League. The Japanese forward failed to score a single goal in the competition last season, one of his rare failures since joining the Hoops. He would surely want to put that right this time.

The other two teams in the group are Atletico Madrid and Lazio. It is going to be tough without doubt, but making it into the knockout rounds is not an impossible task.
