Celtic have been struggling with injuries this season, and we are just a few games into the campaign. Unfortunately, things do not seem to be getting any better for the Hoops. There is no position where they have had to face more issues than at centre-back. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki are all out of action. And now, they have been handed a fresh doubt heading into the Champions League group stage opener against Feyenoord at De Kuip.

Nat Phillips made his debut against Dundee FC at the weekend but was taken off at half-time. He was believed to have rolled his ankle and the seriousness of the matter was played down after the match.

As a result, expectations were that Phillips would be fit enough to feature against Feyenoord in midweek. But now, that has been put into doubt.

It looks like Phillips is an injury doubt going into the match against Feyenoord. That is bad news for Brendan Rodgers, as he is one of the players who has prior experience of playing at that level.

As reported by the Daily Record, Rodgers said:

"“Nat has rolled his ankle so we will just have to see on that.”"

Other than Phillips, there do not seem to be any fresh fitness doubts. That is good news for a change. The manager added:

"“Other than that pretty much the guys are fine, they are working their way up to fitness. Apart from that they are OK.”"

Phillips was signed late in the summer transfer window, on loan for just the first half of the season. His arrival appeared to be a direct result of the number of injury problems that the Hoops are dealing with at the moment.

Unfortunately, even he is dealing with fitness issues at the moment. And the thing is, he has not played much football at Liverpool. So he is expected to take some time to shake off the rust and work his way up to full fitness.
