Celtic are expected to appoint a new manager over the course of the next few months. And one name that they have been linked with extensively is that of Eddie Howe.

Not too long ago, it looked like the club were closing in on the appointment of Howe but things appear to have changed since then. It has emerged that the manager plans to stay out of management at least till the summer and that rumours of any deal being close are premature.

Since then, not much new has cropped up regarding the former Bournemouth manager’s potential move to Parkhead. While he remains the favourite to be handed the role, the longer the saga drags on, the more doubts will arise.

And the Hoops might have been handed a major blow in their chase to bring the highly-rated manager to Parkhead. As reported by Football Insider, Brighton & Hove Albion are keeping tabs on Howe.

Can Celtic bring Howe to Parkhead in the summer?

Let’s just say things are starting to look more tricky than they did a week or so ago. Back then, it was believed that it was only a matter of time before Howe arrived at the club but with no appointment made yet, there are fears that a move might fail to materialise after all.

Howe is one of the best free agent managers available at this point of time. He did a brilliant job at Bournemouth over the course of his two stints there, taking them from the relegation zone of League Two to the Premier League.

Naturally, he is a man in demand and wanted by multiple clubs. Thus, it is not going to be easy to bring him to Parkhead this summer but the Hoops must try to get a deal over the line, because he might be the man to turn things around. But they must be prepared for the worst case scenario as well and have alternative targets.
