Less than a week after playing them, one of Celtic’s recent opponents have had two players test positive, putting the Hoops on alert once again.

Celtic have just had some of the worst luck in world football over the last few weeks. The international break was a nightmare on its own and it looks it might be set to continue.

After a disheartening 3-1 defeat to AC Milan at Parkhead last week followed by a 3-3 draw against Aberdeen on the weekend, the Hoops will be desperate to catch a break. Unfortunately, the squad face another dilemma as the Italian giants have had two players and three staff members test positive after the match, per the Daily Record.

This comes after an international break just weeks ago that saw multiple Celtic players quarantined for contact with positive cases or testing positive themselves.

Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donarumma and winger Jans Petter Hauge have both tested positive alongside three of the squad’s staff members. Both players did played in the Europa League match last week, but are asymptomatic thus far. This could end up with more positive tests among the Serie A club.

Their match with AS Roma has gone on as per schedule, with Donarumma and Hauge both listed as out for the game due to the tests.

While no further players have tested positive and those who did have been asymptomatic, there is always the chance for some Celtic players from last week’s match to test positive in the coming days as the virus takes some time to register on tests at times.

Neil Lennon’s side would do well to avoid any positive tests, as the Hoops have struggled mightily over the past week with two defeats and a draw in their last three games, quite a rare occurrence at Celtic.

Lennon’s Bhoys will look to steady the ship in Europa League this Thursday against French club LOSC Lille. Lille are coming off of a 4-1 group stage win against Sparta Prague last Thursday and are flying high in Ligue 1 as well, currently sitting at second.
