Celtic Women have confirmed that young talent Sienna McGoldrick has joined fellow Scottish Women's Premier League side Partick Thistle on loan until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old made 15 appearances for the Hoops this campaign and managed to bag her first senior goal. Her run in the squad came after a loan at Motherwell last season, and Grant Scott has opted for another move to aid her development.

She will be available to play this afternoon for Partick Thistle's match against Hamilton.

Celtic are also in action today as they take on Hearts, who they managed to knock out of the Women's Scottish Cup last week with a 4-3 victory after extra time. This league fixture will be played at New Douglas Park, and the Celts need a win to keep them securely in the title race.

Young talent at Celtic

It has been brilliant to see young players like McGoldrick and Darra Dawson given runs in the squad this season. Both looked good in the green and white, and there is no doubt that in the future, they could become very key players for the club.

Sending McGoldrick on loan now is a good decision as it means she'll be in the running to get experience during an intense period in the top flight. Today sees the final pre-split fixture being played for all teams, and it would be brilliant if Thistle plays her regularly during the post-split matches.

Even better if they manage to get three points today. If Montrose were to lose and Thistle were to win, the Jags would move up to sixth place, which would give them difficult but exciting fixtures to end their season. It would see McGoldrick potentially play for her new side against top teams like Glasgow City and Rangers, and her performances there could show Celtic fans a lot of positive signs for the future.

Celtic's midfield options

Now that McGoldrick has left the club for now, that takes an option away from midfield. Here is who Celtic have remaining in the middle of the park:

5 - Natalie Ross

8 - Jenny Smith

41 - Clare Goldie

4 - Lisa Robertson

14 - Shannon McGregor

25 - Momo Nakao

Out of those six, only three are available. Ross, Goldie and McGregor remain out of the team, and the usual midfield two consists of Robertson and Momo. When Scott has utilised Smith this season, she has been played higher up the park, although the club do still consider her a midfielder.

McGoldrick does take an option out of this small list, but the experience she is going to gain is invaluable. Hopefully, she does amazing at Thistle.
