Celtic Women play their second back-to-back match against Hearts this weekend, this time in the Women's Scottish Premier League. With the Hoops still in the title race, this is their last pre-split game, and Grant Scott's side will be hoping to repeat last week's result, where they beat out the Jambos at Oriam.
Hearts were knocked out of the Women's Scottish Cup by Celtic last weekend as the Hoops ran out 4-3 victors after extra time. In the league though, the Edinburgh side sit second, while the Celts are in fourth. There are barely any points between the top four, and a victory is crucial for both sides if they want to continue their good seasons.
Last weekend, goals from Morgan Cross, Emma Westin, Hannah Luke and Emma Lawton made the difference as the tie was finished in 120 minutes. Celtic secured their place at Hampden, where they will face Glasgow City in May.
This match against Hearts is not only the last pre-split game, but it is also the last game before the international break, where seven Celtic players will represent their countries.
Predicted Celtic XI for Hearts at home
Despite one error last time out, Lisa Rodgers was good as usual. She popped up in big moments to save the game for Celtic, and she will be between the sticks for this one.
Kelly Clark and Claire Walsh also put in brilliant performances last time out, despite one silly mistake at the back leading to a goal. They continue to be solid week in week out, and Scott will undoubtedly continue to start them for this one.
Emma Lawton didn't take long to get over the injury she sustained against City and was back for last week's clash against our opponents. She was, again, amazing.
Maddi Wilde came on during the game and also impressed, so the manager now has the challenge of balancing two in-form players who play in the same position. He managed to push Lawton up the pitch last time to play Wilde in defence, but I wouldn't bet on tactical changes right from the start here, with Lawton likely to occupy the right fullback spot.
After her phenomenal display at Oriam, we'd tip Hannah Luke to start on the other side. She was all over the pitch making an impact, and even used her pace to pop up with an important goal in extra time. It would be silly not to give her a chance.
In the midfield, we'll likely see the same two of Lisa Robertson and Momo Nakao.
Further up the pitch, Maria McAneny should return for this one. She was rested last game, but as soon as she came on, there was an immediate difference, and her attacking ability is too good for us to miss out on. Morgan Cross and Amy Gallacher will play alongside her.
Up front, Poppy Pritchard impressed at Oriam despite not scoring, and with her ability to play on the wing as well, as we saw last time out, she'll probably start.
A winger from the three could be dropped, or she could fall back to the centre attacking role to give Saoirse Noonan a chance up front, but we'd say that Pritchard will probably just end up being at striker on the team sheet.
Rodgers (GK)
Lawton (RB), Clark (CB), Walsh (CB), Luke (LB)
Robertson (CM), Momo (CM)
Cross (RW), Gallacher (CAM), McAneny (LW)
Pritchard (ST)
How could the match go?
Off the back of playing them last week, the visitors will probably be looking to hit us in any parts of our game that they noticed as weak last time. We will do the same though, so this one could be tighter.
We see Celtic as being the favourites for this one though, and everyone at the club will know how crucial a victory is before the split.
So, our prediction is Celtic 3 - 1 Hearts.
