Celtic Women were denied three points on Wednesday against Glasgow City as a late goal from Natalia Wrobel saw the game end in a 1-1 draw.

Both sides got off to a good start in the first half, with Celtic searching for an opening goal. There weren't many big chances to speak of, but there was a major change.

In the 34th minute of the game, Emma Westin was forced off through injury. It was a hard one for the player to take, with her having only recently recovered from being sidelined. She was replaced with Saoirse Noonan, and we await to hear how long she will be out for.

The first half ended goalless, but as the teams came out for the second 45, Celtic were pushing early to find that crucial goal. Eventually, it came.

Minutes before the hour mark, Emma Lawton sent a brilliant ball into Saoirse Noonan, who found herself unmarked. Her bullet header was too much for the goalkeeper to handle, and it slipped over her as the striker found the net.

Poppy Pritchard almost doubled Celtic's advantage minutes later as she sprinted into the box, beating her marker and preparing a shot. The visitors put in a last-ditch tackle to prevent her from having a go.

It seemed like it was going to be victory for the Celts, but with just nine minutes to go, disaster struck. After a good play that saw City get into the final third, Wrobel sent a cross into the box. Claire Walsh hesitated and didn't manage to head it away, leaving Lisa Rodgers with a last-minute dive. She didn't anticipate it, and it slipped past her to level things.

No one could find the winner, and it ended in a draw at New Douglas Park.

Speaking after the match, Grant Scott said:

"Obviously, a tough match. I thought the girls were terrific throughout. You know against Glasgow City, you're going to have momentum shifts in the game. They had a few moments against us, but I think we more than held our own. Obviously, a disappointing way to lose the equalising goal because I thought at that point, we were keeping City at arm's length."

Not to be, but we push on

This is a big result, and not in a good way. A win would've surely kept Celtic in the title race, but now back-to-back draws have put that at risk.

As things stand, City are still leading the charge with 50 points. Hearts are in second and were the only title contenders to win in mid-week, with the Jambos moving up to 46 points. Celtic sit in third on 43 points, while Rangers are one behind on 42.

City and Rangers face each other this weekend, where everything could change. Celtic travel to face Partick Thistle on March 22, with Grant Scott's side eager for a victory to get them going again.
