Celtic are reportedly open to a 'record sale' of star player Benjamin Nygren should a club come in for his services in the summer.

The Swede joined in the summer and has been smashing the goals in for the Hoops. With 19 goals in all competitions, he is outperforming all the strikers at the club. Celtic would be losing out on a massive presence in attack should he be moved on, but the money may be too good to refuse.

According to SportsBoom, Celtic are expecting to open negotiations in the €30 million price range. With Premier League clubs such as Spurs and Brighton interested in his signature, that could be a realistic number to expect.

Other teams like Julian Araujo's Bournemouth are also allegedly interested in the player, with foreign outfits such as Valencia and Lille also keeping their eye on the top performer.

The clubs view Nygren as a long-term option who they describe as a "project player" - someone who they can develop and then sell on for an even higher price than what they are prepared to pay.

No club has made an official offer for the midfielder yet, but they are unlikely to until the end of the season. Thankfully, nothing came in January, but that could all change in the summer.

If Nygren has a good World Cup with Sweden, that could increase his value even more. If the fee keeps going up, it would be hard for the Hoops to resist, especially considering they only paid £1.7 million for him.

Is a transfer for Nygren likely to happen?

Many reports are claiming that clubs are interested, but whether a deal will actually happen is another story. There is definitely a chance that someone could be willing to splash the cash, but if Celtic choose to accept any offer, that would give the next manager the difficult task of replacing him.

There is likely to be a lot of activity from the Celts in the summer transfer window, with a lot of players needing moves out and a lot of positions needing to be filled. The Hoops are already scouting out some potential options, but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

Hopefully, Nygren will stay at Celtic going into next season. He is a brilliant option for us and has been crucial in our push for the title this season, despite all of the struggles. Some people still aren't convinced by him, but the statistics don't lie. He is a class player, and the Parkhead side should do all they can to keep him on their books.
