In-form Celtic midfielder Benjamin Nygren is confident that Celtic can win the Scottish Premiership this season.
The Swede has hit the ground running since arriving in Glasgow, but the season as a whole has been tumultuous. He has managed to find the net 19 times and has certainly been a key player in the Hoops' push to retain their title.
Speaking to PLZ about Celtic's chances, Nygren said:
"Yes, of course. It’s still possible (to win the league), I don’t know how many games it’s left, nine or ten games left. We for sure need to do good from here, but we’ll play them again, so of course it’s in reach. Is there enough time to hunt Hearts down? Yes, of course. The time has to be now."
The midfielder also spoke about how unpredictable the final few games of the season are:
"You all know that in the last five games of the season, a lot can happen, and there are no easy games, so there can be big swings. That’s how it is. The last games will be tough, and they will for sure feel the pressure. We’ll play them (Hearts) again at home, so we need to do good from here. Myself, I’m not looking that much at the league table. I know we have to go into every game to win, but of course, it’s better to be second than third."
Still everything to play for
Celtic still have everything to play for and are not going to go down without a fight. As things stand, the Hoops sit second in the Premiership, one point above Rangers in third and five behind Hearts in the top spot.
Martin O'Neill's side have another difficult clash up next in the Premiership as they'll face Motherwell, who have been at the top of their game this season under the possible next Celtic boss, Jens Berthel Askou.
All of our players will need to make sure that they perform from now until the end of the season, and it could be wise to look at options who have been going under the radar recently. One name that comes to mind is Joel Mvuka, who O'Neill recently gave hope of a potential return to action.
Hopefully, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can find his form as well because with Nygren in the same position, it seems like a no-brainer to start the Swede over the Ox.
