In recent years, we have seen many footballers become owners of football clubs. In the past, that was something that was done by those who had retired from the game and were looking for the next step in their careers. But now, those who are still actively playing, have done the same. One Celtic hero's name has been added to that list recently.
One player who was synonymous with the club's success during Brendan Rodgers' first stint at Celtic was Moussa Dembele. It has been a long time since he left the club but he continues to keep an eye out on the Hoops.
Dembele would leave Celtic to join Lyon. During his time there, he was linked with some of the biggest teams in world football but a move never ended up materialising. He did have a loan spell at Atletico Madrid.
Then, in his prime, Dembele decided to join Al-Ettifaq. There, he worked with Steven Gerrard. And it looks like the Frenchman might already be thinking about life after the game.
Celtic hero announced as new owner of football club
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Dembele has signed as the new owner of Lithuanian club FK Minija. It is via his investment group called Triple M which also owns AS Mansa in Mali.
Hopefully, things will go well for Dembele in this new venture. Celtic fans will always wish him nothing but the best, no matter what he decides to do. The Frenchman was excellent during his time at Parkhead and his love for the club is clearly visible to this day.
Of course, as time goes by, there is a chance that more players will follow this path and become players of football clubs. There might very well be a few at Celtic as we speak. Let's see what the future holds.
