Celtic Player of the Year candidate Liam Scales will not feature in Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final clash against St Mirren due to suspension. The defender has picked up too many yellow cards in previous rounds, meaning he will be forced to watch this one from the sidelines.

The Irishman has been a constant in the Hoops' team this season, putting in brilliant performances on occasion. Now, Martin O'Neill will have to do without him, but there are plenty of promising options to replace him.

Defence has been a struggle point in this Celtic team, with Cameron Carter-Vickers being out for most of the season. Another reshuffle is on the cards, but that could offer loanee Benjamin Arthur the chance to shine.

We'll likely see a defensive partnership of Arthur and Auston Trusty, and that's a back two that a lot of supporters will be delighted with.

When O'Neill was asked if he is confident in whoever steps up to the call, he said: "Oh yeah, absolutely. I would have no doubts about that. I’ve got two right-footers as well, so Trusty will move over to the left-hand side.

"But yeah, I’ve got lots of confidence in Benjamin Arthur and Dane Murray."

Who will start alongside Trusty?

Trusty is a certainty for this massive game at Hampden, and it seems like the path is clear for Arthur to start alongside him. Murray could get the chance, but Arthur's recent performances may be enough to win him the spot.

Both are young players, and they'll bring a lot of energy to the side. We'll have to rely on Trusty for the experience aspect, but it could be enough to see us win.

It will be a tough test at Hampden, and Celtic can't afford to underestimate St Mirren. After a 1-0 win against them last weekend, they will improve, and they will make sure that they are 100% ready for this tie.

No team goes into a semi-final to lie down. They will send their best players out to fight, and they'll want to secure their place in the final just as much as the Bhoys.

Scales isn't the only player who won't be available at the back for this one, as Julian Araujo is still injured. He won't play for Celtic again, so it'll be either Anthony Ralston or Colby Donovan taking their place on the left.

On the right, it's a tight call between Marcelo Saracchi and Kieran Tierney, but with Tierney being given the chance against this opponent last time, O'Neill could opt for the South American this time around.

It's set to be an amazing game at Hampden, and fingers crossed that our defence won't end up being a problem.
