It is safe to say that there are a lot of talking points surrounding Celtic as we head towards the summer transfer window. Of course, before that, the Hoops have a Scottish Cup final to deal with. After that, they can truly think about strengthening Brendan Rodgers' squad and making some additions to the team, while also hopefully keeping its core together.
Unfortunately, it is never easy for a club like Celtic to keep all their players. And one of the talking points surrounding the club right now is the future of Greg Taylor, with his contract set to run out at the end of this season.
The Scot has been a key part of this team for the majority of his time at Celtic Park, since his arrival in the summer of 2019. Incidentally, he was brought in as the replacement for Kieran Tierney. Now, he is set to return from Arsenal while the other appears to be on his way out of Parkhead.
Earlier, rumours had broken that Taylor had quietly put pen to paper on a contract extension. But if that had been the case, one would have expected an announcement to be made already. In fact, Rodgers has now rubbished those rumours completely.
Celtic fans left stunned as Brendan Rodgers rubbishes rumour
As reported by The National, Rodgers said when asked for an update on Taylor's situation:
"I am sorry, Chris. There is not. I wish there was."
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Taylor. But as things stand, it is looking very likely that he will be on his way out this summer.
One of his recent social media posts seemed to hint at that as well. If this is indeed the end for him as a Celtic player, then we can only wish him the best of luck for whatever comes in the future. He has not always gotten the credit that he deserves.
