Expect Celtic to be busy this summer. They made a ton of progress in the Champions League this season and must be eager to build on that success. The domestic situation is worth keeping an eye on as well with the Rangers on the verge of a takeover. And with Brendan Rodgers entering the final year of his contract, the club need to convince the manager that Parkhead is the place to be.
All of these combined, there is a clear need for Celtic to make some quality signings this summer. And one of the first areas they need to look at is striker.
Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah have done spectacularly since the departure of Kyogo in January. But with Jota suffering a long-term injury, the former might need shift back to the left flank.
If that turns out to be the case, Celtic would need to bring in one more striker. And one of their transfer targets appears to be keen on a summer move.
£7m Celtic transfer target hints he wants summer move
It is believed that Celtic saw a transfer bid in the region of £7 million for David Strelec turned down by Slovan Bratislava in the summer. But the striker remains open to a summer move. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:
"I'm happy at Slovan and I'm at home here. We haven't even talked about it with the management yet, we'll see how it goes. Maybe an even better offer will come."
While Strelec has maintained that he is happy at Slovan Bratislava, rumours have suggested that he was not pleased to see a winter move not go through. Let's see if there is one on the cards in the upcoming summer window.
Strelec has proven himself to be an excellent goalscorer this season, scoring 24 goals and providing 8 assists in 47 appearances. Five of those goals have come over Champions League qualifiers and the group phase, including one against Atletico Madrid.
