Celtic icon James Forrest's sister Lisa Forrest destroyed Rangers on Sunday in the Sky Sports Cup final as her Glasgow City side beat the Gers 2-1 at Fir Park.
The attacker netted a double within just 90 seconds, and it was her goals that saw them to victory. Both sides had their chances throughout the game, and after a goalless first half, City came out fighting. Katie Wilkinson did pull one back for Rangers, but in the end, it was City's day.
City lifted their first Sky Sports Cup in 11 years, and Forrest was delighted with her performance. She said: "It feels amazing. I can’t really put it into words right now. I’m just so glad for the team. It’s amazing. I just want to help the team as much as I can by leading the line, so it’s a full team performance today. We are just happy overall."
She was also asked about her brother, and she joked: "Yeah, I’ll be showing him my goals later on!"
What a player Forrest is for City. At the age of 19, she has nine goals and one assist in 20 appearances in the Scottish Women's Premier League this season. She could maybe be someone that the Hoops look to in the future, with an undoubtedly big summer coming up.
Celtic will look on after earlier defeat
It was a defeat earlier in the season on penalties to Rangers that meant Grant Scott's side weren't in the battle at the weekend. It wasn't meant to be in this competition, but thankfully, the Celts are still battling for two trophies.
The team are still in the Women's Scottish Cup after a victory over Hearts, meaning that they will take on victors City at Hampden later this year. After a difficult time last season, the Hoops will be hoping to lift a trophy this year.
Thankfully, the team are still in contention for the SWPL title as well. Celtic sit second in the league, four points off Hearts, and with games against City to come, it will be an exciting time.
The Hoops are back in action on April 1 when they take on Hearts at Oriam. After two recent victories over them, confidence will be high, but of course, anything can happen in football, and we can't let our guards down.
With the players we have and after a victory over Partick Thistle last time out, it should be a good match.
