Amy Richardson has posted a TikTok video showing her still in a moon boot. The defender has been out injured since Celtic faced Rangers in the Sky Sports Cup, which ended in a penalty defeat.
Richardson and Goldie took us on a tour through Celtic's performance centre to 'House Tour' by Sabrina Carpenter. The defender being back in the gym is a positive step, and hopefully, we will see her back sooner rather than later.
Richardson joined Celtic in the summer of 2024 and was a promising signing for Elena Sadiku. Coming from one of the Swede's former clubs, the defender came through the Everton academy and earned experience in the FA Women's National League North on loan to Liverpool Feds.
She came to Celtic but struggled to get gametime, and was sent out on loan in February 2025 to Partick Thistle. In the SWPL, she made 12 appearances for the Jags and has only appeared five times in the league for the Hoops. She will be hoping that when she is back from injury, she can get more time on the pitch under Grant Scott.
Time for a change?
Some supporters have been calling for a change in defence after slight errors from Kelly Clark and Claire Walsh this season. Walsh has been under the spotlight after she didn't head away a Glasgow City cross that ended up in the back of the net on Wednesday night. Some feel that her defending could have been better for the goal.
Right now, Celtic doesn't really have many options on the bench though. Scott's side can't even name a full substitute bench, so when it comes to picking the team, he doesn't really have much choice.
Evie Rabjohn could slot in at centre-back, but the manager is opting to play her in midfield instead. Darra Dawson is another option, but she is only 17 and Celtic are clearly looking to their more experienced players. Other than those options, with Richardson out, the only other dedicated central defenders are Clark and Walsh.
Recruitment needed in the summer
Whether you love our centre-back pairing or not, it's clear that recruitment is needed in the summer. We are big fans, but the position does need competition.
Previously, Celtic had the likes of Bruna Lourenco and the amazing Caitlin Hayes, but those players have moved on, and now, we need to bring in more squad members. Hopefully, the board will back Scott in the summer, and he can get the players that he needs.
Michael Nicholson was at Celtic vs City in mid-week, and hopefully, he has realised that the squad needs serious investment. And if the board aren't willing to finance a title-challenging side, then there's only one thing to say - they aren't fit for purpose.
