With their 2-1 defeat at the hands of FC Midtjylland in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie, Celtic now won’t be making the group stage of the competition for the fourth straight season.
And while the Hoops could have won both of the games in the tie if they had taken their chances, it is clear that there are a lot of positions in their squad that need strengthening.
One of them is between the posts. Neither Vasilis Barkas nor Scott Bain have been able to convince till now that they are the long-term answer there. And recently, they have been linked with a move for Joe Hart.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Hart made 10 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur last season, keeping 5 clean sheets in the process of doing so.

Celtic handed Hart transfer boost
As reported by The Athletic, the expectation is that the two clubs will be able to reach an agreement. After Tottenham Hotspur completed the loan signing of Pierluigi Gollini, Hart was informed that he could leave.
Now, there are two ways to look at a move for Hart. On one hand, he is 34 years of age and has not been a regular starter for a team for a few seasons now. He is also not known for his ability to play the ball out from the back. Thus, one has to wonder if he would be the right fit in Ange Postecoglou’s system.
But on the other hand, he has played at the highest level and has a ton of experience. Hart is a commanding presence in the box and has very good reflexes. If he can rediscover his form at Parkhead then he could prove to be a tremendous signing for the club. Yes, he might not be the long-term solution there but he could very well make the position his own for a season or two.
