There have been many twists and turns already in the Celtic exit saga surrounding Odsonne Edouard this summer. Earlier in the window, it had looked like he was headed to Leicester City but that move failed to materialise.

Since then, Brighton & Hove Albion have been linked with a move for the Frenchman and there were rumours floating around that they could be about to make a £20 million transfer bid for him.

The striker has been linked with Brighton & Hove Albion in previous transfer windows as well. But as reported by The Argus, a local newspaper based in Brighton and Hove, the club are not interested in signing Edouard.

But it looks like there is another twist in the long running saga. As reported by the Daily Mail, Brighton & Hove Albion are poised to step up their £20 million pursuit of Edouard after Celtic’s UEFA Champions League second round qualification tie against FC Midtjylland.

Could Edouard be set to depart Celtic this summer?

With the Hoops trying to navigate their way through the qualifying ties in Europe and get off to a good start in the new campaign, they’ll be hoping Edouard can keep contributing on the pitch although his future appears to be up in the air at the moment.

Ange Postecoglou has already made it clear that Edouard will be in his plans as long as he is at the club, putting in performances in training and in games. As a result, he has featured heavily for the side when he has been available for selection.

For the time being, the focus should be on the upcoming second leg of the UEFA Champions League second round qualifier against FC Midtjylland, a game in which Edouard is expected to feature. Then, we will see what the future holds for the Frenchman and if he ends up leaving the club this summer. If he does depart, he is a player that they would need to find a replacement for as soon as possible.
