Odsonne Edouard’s Celtic future is up in the air at this point of time with just a year left on his current deal. The striker had been heavily linked with a move to Leicester City earlier in the transfer window but that move failed to materialise.

There is the possibility that he could end up staying at Parkhead for the final year of his contract. But then, transfer rumours have continued to revolve around a move away this summer.

To be honest, it would be surprising if the Hoops do not try to find him a new club in this transfer window itself. The French striker is rated at over £15 million, which would make him one of the most expensive departures in the club’s history. On the other hand, if he remains at Parkhead for another season, he will become a free agent.

Ange Postecoglou has shed some light on the current situation. And while Edouard seems to be in his plans while he is at the club, the Hoops are making contingency plans in case that changes in the near future. While speaking with Sky Sports and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the manager said:

"“To me what’s more important is that Odsonne is training very well and presenting himself in games well, so while he’s here I’m treating him as a Celtic player.“If that changes in the near future then we’re making contingency plans for that.”"

Will Edouard remain at Celtic beyond this summer?

While the possibility of Edouard remaining at Parkhead for another season cannot be completely ruled out, it certainly seems unlikely. As we have already seen with Kristoffer Ajer, the club will let a player leave when they receive a transfer fee for him that they are satisfied with.

Edouard has been linked with a number of clubs over the past year or so and it would be surprising if none of them decided to make a move this summer.

Of course, the Frenchman has been one of the best players at the club for a few years now and they must have replacements on their radar for when or if he leaves. And it looks like that is exactly what they are doing.
