It is safe to say that Ange Postecoglou already has a massive task on his hands. He will be expected to steady the Celtic ship after a very disappointing campaign and get them back to winning ways.

At the moment though, the club need to make a number of signings in order to give the manager the best possible chance to succeed, with a number of positions needing reinforcements.

Champions League qualification will also be very important to the Hoops, after having failed to make it to the group stage of Europe’s elite competition for three straight seasons. But it will be very difficult to achieve that.

And it might have just become even more difficult today, with Celtic suffering three injury worries in their pre-season game against Bristol City, which ended in a goalless draw. Vasilis Barkas suffered an injury in the warm-up itself and could not play. Then, Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele suffered injuries during the game.

Celtic could miss the trio during the game against FC Midtjylland

These injuries will certainly be a worry for Postecoglou, especially since we are less than a week away from the first leg of the second round Champions League qualifier against FC Midtjylland.

If Barkas misses out on the night, Bain would be expected to get the nod. On the other hand, Johnston’s worries look to be continuing, as he appeared to suffer a hamstring injury during the game. The youngster has shown a lot of promise when on the pitch, but he has spent significant time on the sidelines over the past two seasons. One can only hope that that does not end up being the case during this campaign as well.

Finally, Dembele has been very impressive during this pre-season and thus, the knock he picked up would also be a blow for the club.

In this scenario, Postecoglou’s options between the posts and on the wings could be limited heading into the second round Champions League qualifier against FC Midtjylland.
