Celtic will need reinforcements all over the pitch over the course of the summer transfer window. A number of first-team stars are expected to depart Parkhead and will need to be replaced by new faces.

One of the areas on the pitch that the Hoops have very little depth in at the moment is on the wings. James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele are the only recognised wingers in the squad right now.

On top of that, both Forrest and Johnston spent significant time on the sidelines due to injuries over the course of the previous season. On the other hand, Dembele has very little experience of senior football till now despite having a lot of talent.

Thus, it is an area that Ange Postecoglou might very well be looking to sign players in in the upcoming transfer window. And one man that they must make a move for is Kawasaki Frontale’s Kaoru Mitoma.

Mitoma could be a brilliant signing for Celtic

The J1 League is very competitive, which is what makes Mitoma’s stats almost unbelievable. According to stats from Transfermarkt, through the course of his career, Mitoma has made 59 appearances across all competitions for Kawasaki Frontale, scoring 28 goals and providing 17 assists. He has featured for 3269 minutes on the pitch though, meaning he is averaging a goal contribution every 73 minutes or so!

Those are incredible stats, especially for a winger. He has already broken records in Japanese football and there is no question that the 24-year-old has the potential to be a brilliant player. And interestingly, Celtic have been linked with a move for him recently, as it appears that Mitoma could be looking for a move to Europe in the near future.

If the opportunity was there, the Hoops must definitely consider making a move for Mitoma. Of course, Postecoglou will know about his qualities very well.
