Perhaps inevitably, following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the new Celtic manager, there will be rumours linking the club with a number of players from the J1 League and the A-League, considering the amount of time the 55-year-old spent managing in Australia and Japan.

Of course, Postecoglou’s huge experience there means he will already be aware of great players from those leagues. He will know of plenty of players, who have played for or against his teams in the past and made a great impression.

Celtic have a history of signing both Australian and Japanese players. The brightest of them perhaps being Shunsuke Nakamura, who interestingly started out with Yokohama F. Marinos before moving to Reggina and then to Parkhead, where he dazzled the fans with his extraordinary skills and incredible free kicks.

And now, two promising J1 League stars, Kaoru Mitoma and Ao Tanaka are being linked with the Hoops, as reported by The Scottish Sun. Both of them appear to be interested in moving to Europe and have registered with super agent, Don Nomura.

Kaoru Mitoma or Ao Tanaka linked with Celtic

As reported by the The Scottish Sun, Don Nomura said:

"“Both players have said they want to go abroad and we will try and do that after the Olympics.“It can be difficult to secure a move, but I have a track record in making transfers happen.”"

Both Mitoma and Tanaka play for current J1 League champions, Kawasaki Frontale, who are sitting at first in the league table this season as well at this point of time.

Mitoma is a winger who has scored 10 goals and provided 3 assists in 21 appearances across all competitions this season according to stats from Transfermarkt.

On the other hand, Tanaka is a central midfielder. The 22-year-old has made 21 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring once and providing 5 assists, according to stats from Transfermarkt.

Both of them seem like brilliant prospects and could prove to be good signings for the Hoops, if they can get a deal done for them. Of course, Postecoglou has watched them regularly during his time in Japan and if the club do make a move for the duo, it is expected that he would have a clear idea of where the two fit into his plans.
