Manager of English-side Fleetwood Town, Joey Barton has revealed that he has more allegiance to Celtic than he does to the club over at Ibrox.
Speaking with the Football CFB podcast, Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton made a somewhat surprising admission: he prefers Celtic over Rangers. This comes as a surprise because Joey Barton actually made eight appearances for the Rangers as many fans will recall.
Barton’s career when he joined Rangers was already in its twilight, and some would say it was in the proverbial gutter. While the latter may be a bit harsh, his suspension and ensuing issues with Rangers probably did little to help with his allegiance issues.
While Barton’s short career with Rangers will always be in question, at least it is reassuring to know he enjoys the Hoops, and apparently always has.
Speaking with Football CFB podcast here is what Joey Barton had to say:
"“Being an Englishman, it is Celtic or Rangers. Me being from Liverpool and a huge Irish community, we were put in Celtic kits. If there was any allegiance, I would lean more towards Celtic.”"
While it may not seem like much, it is always nice to see a former Rangers player come out and say he prefers the Hoops over the Ibrox club. It is the small wins that matter right now.
Extra Time:
- A young Rangers star believes that his club can still overtake Celtic, despite sitting 13 points behind the Paradise club in the table.
- Rangers are always embarrassing themselves, and this time they have been left red-faced after an SPFL investigation.
- A little bit of transfer news. Could Celtic be on the verge of bringing in a former English Premier League superstar? It is not as far-fetched as you might think.
As always, stay safe and stay healthy out there!
