Another day, same old story. Rangers have been left red-faced as the SPFL revealed the results of an independent investigation into Dundee’s vote.

As expected, Rangers did not take too well to the news that the majority of the Scottish voted in favour of the SPFL’s proposition to bring the three lower Scottish leagues to a conclusion as things stand so that the prize money could be paid out to the clubs who were struggling financially.

To most people it would have come as no surprise that the clubs wanted for the money to be paid out as most of their sources of income have been blocked due to the suspension of the football season. Obviously, the clubs in danger of being relegated did not want the motion to pass although there might be plans to restructure the leagues in order to avoid relegation.

One team who opposed the motion just to prevent Celtic from being eventually crowned champions were the Rangers. As things stand, they sit 13 points below the Hoops and if all 38 league games were to be played, they had very little chance of catching up. But they have decided to push the narrative of how it is unfair on them if Neil Lennon’s side are declared as champions without playing the complete quota of games.

There was a controversial moment during the voting process though when Dundee, who had the decisive vote and were believed to be siding with the Rangers, failed to register their original vote and then sent the SPFL instructions to ignore it. Later, they voted in favour of the motion.

This resulted in Rangers calling the SPFL corrupt. They wanted Neil Doncaster and Rod Mackenzie to be suspended while the voting process was investigated. The Ibrox side even claimed that they had proof of the governing body’s corruption.

SPFL commissioned an independent investigation regarding Dundee’s vote though and no evidence of any wrongdoing on the part of the SFPL was found. As reported by the BBC, the governing body stated in a letter:

"“Deloitte’s examination of phone records, mobile communications (including texts) and email data has identified no evidence of improper behaviour by SPFL personnel concerning the submission of the Dundee FC vote.“I hope that Scottish football will now focus on the significant issues that face our game, otherwise many clubs may not survive this period.”"

By now it is pretty clear that the Rangers are clutching at straws. Unfortunately for them, it doesn’t look like anything can stop Celtic from lifting nine-in-a-row.
