Celtic considering a permanent move for Odsonne Edouard
By Nick McAdam
Celtic could always use some more youth all around the pitch. That includes the striker, and help can already be in the team right now.
Odsonne Edouard is currently on loan from French giants Paris Saint-Germain. He’s set to head back to the French capital in May of 2018, but Brendan Rodgers may be considering signing the forward before he has the chance to move back to PSG this spring.
Edouard came over from PSG for around 1.5 million pounds, but the Bhoys have the option to buy at the end of his deal. It’d be a sweet move for the Celts, as they could permanently land Edouard for half the cost.
Plus, the Frenchman is already showing signs of incredible potential at Paradise. In 13 games across all competitions, Edouard has amassed 4 goals and 3 assists including an amazing hat trick against Motherwell last December.
The attacking front for Celtic is a big question mark for the club at the moment. Nobody really knows what the future hold for Moussa Dembele, and Leigh Griffiths is finding the bench more often which is alarming in his prime years.

At 19 years of age, Edouard certainly has the capabilities to help the Celts attack right now and in the future. Plus, it would give Celtic more time to find additional pieces to the forward core for many years to come.
The move may not happen right now, but Rodgers will have to consider the signing before he heads back to PSG in May. The boss has admitted that he’s been more than impressed with what Edouard has brought to the club in a short period of time, according to Sports Mole.
"“I will assess it at the end of the season. I have been really impressed by him and he is getting better and better each week.“The boy has big talent and is a real worker as well. He works very hard for the team and he’s the type of performer I like. His English is getting better through lessons and he’s still only very young. He has a lot of potential there.“He has grown each week he has been with us. It’s a case of assessing it. There’s no rush. It’s for both sides as well: he might love it with us; he might not. I know he is really enjoying it but there is no rush to commit on either side now.”"
There may be no rush for commitment right now, but the time is ticking on Edouard’s deal. It’s going to be an important second half of the campaign for both the Hoops and Edouard. If the 19-year-old can continue what he did in the first half of the season against some stiff competition, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him wear green and white in the future.
