Celtic have seemingly been linked to more expensive players as of late, which isn’t really a bad thing depending on the player. However, if the form of the player isn’t there, then the price might not be worth it.

Davy Klaassen was one of the hottest properties to have in the recent and rather crazy summer window. The now former member of Ajax was just starting to hit his prime, and several clubs looked to cash in on his low asking price from the Dutch champions.

It was under the new Toffee youth movement that was directed by Ronald Koeman that ultimately won out the signature of Klaassen this past summer. Maybe Everton went too young though, as the once top six side in the Premier League has been struggling to find results.

The club’s form has also taken a hit on Klaassen, who has a shocking 0 goals and 0 assists in all 10 of his appearances across a variety of competitions. Compare that to he 14 goals he scored in 33 games with Ajax, and the total is pretty concerning.

There really doesn’t seem to be an indication of the 24-year-old hitting the market any time soon, but that hasn’t stopped Alan Brazil urging the Bhoys to chase the services of Klaassen in this window. Here’s what HITC had to say about Brazil’s suggestion:

More from The Celtic Bhoys

"“Everton it looks like are trying to get rid of Klaassen. I wonder if Celtic should go for Klaassen. They know all about him from the Champions League when Ajax beat Celtic.”The Eredivisie giants beat Ronny Deila’s Bhoys 2-1 in Glasgow in the Europa League over two years ago in a game where Klaassen played the full 90 minutes. But does Brendan Rodgers need another midfielder? It’s doubtful. The Northern Irishman already has Stuart Armstrong, Scott Brown, Tom Rogic, Olivier Ntcham and Nir Bitton."

There’s no doubt that Klaassen has the potential to be something special. And Brazil may be right in that Klaassen won’t want to waste his prime years in a club that’s struggling at the moment.

However, the move just doesn’t seem to make any sense for Celtic right now. The Hoops would be taking a huge gamble at his 18 million pound price tag for a player that really isn’t in any form. As the publication above said, the middle of the park already seems pretty strong on the Bhoys’ end, so why would they spend the money to add more?

It’d probably be for the best to wait for the season to end to see how well Klaassen can rebound with Everton. The Celts wouldn’t be able to use him in the Europa League anyway because he’s already featured with the Toffees in that competition.

Keep an eye on developments surround the midfielder. As of right now, Celtic should take a hard pass on the service of Klaassen.
