Lewis Morgan notes that Ibrox stint was a “waste”
By Nick McAdam
In cased you missed it, Celtic completed probably the biggest signing of this window when bringing in wonderkid Lewis Morgan. The winger is set to play with the Bhoys next season.
It shouldn’t be a secret as to how talented Morgan is. The 21-year-old is in the form of his life, having scored 13 goals this season which contributes to his 23 tallies in his developing career.
Maybe the most interesting fact to know about Morgan is that he played some youth football with Celtic’s bitter rivals in the Rangers. It shouldn’t be a big deal, yet some fans have went to social media to criticize the young Scot.
It’s looking like Morgan could care less about what Rangers’ fans think, which is always great to see in a way. In fact, the newest Glasgow addition went on to call his stint at the Ibrox a “waste”, as the Evening Times goes on to note.

"“It was probably more of a relief when I left there, to be honest,” said Morgan. “It was a weight off my shoulders because the last two years there were pretty much pointless me being there.“The head of youth at the time put me back a year so I was playing with the younger age groups. Even at that, I was probably only playing 10 minutes here or there.“He didn’t take a fancy to me at all. Going to a club like St Mirren was great for me. It gave me that chance to kick on again.“I probably lost a couple of years at that club so I can’t wait to get start at this one, the biggest club."
Personally, I never knew that Morgan played some youth football with the Rangers. The Ibrox side obviously felt as if the then child in Morgan wasn’t good enough, so it’s their loss. Years later, it’s only come to benefit both St. Mirren and the Hoops.
Once the wonderkid arrives to Paradise next season, it will be really interesting to see how he plays in the derby. It arguably doesn’t feel better to get revenge on something that haunted you at such a young age, and Morgan has the perfect chance to do that and more with Celtic next season.
