It’s been one of the more confusing situations with Celtic this season. One of Brendan Rodgers’ most notorious attackers has made friends with the bench as of late.

Ever since arriving in 2014, Leigh Griffiths has been one of the more welcomed players in Glasgow. The 27-year-old has been a goal machine for the Celts. Griffiths has 69 goals in the Scottish Premiership and 25 tallies in all other competitions.

Leigh had a terrific start in Scotland this season. He bagged 2 goals in the matches against Hearts and Kilmarnock, respectively. The Scotland native has totaled 11 goals and 2 assists on the campaign thus far.

More from The Celtic Bhoys

But, it’s looking like Rodgers doesn’t seem to care at the moment. Griffiths hasn’t started in the last three matches while players such as Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard have seen more of the pitch.

The results may not have been what Rodgers was looking for when deciding to bring Griffiths out. The Bhoys have lost one to Anderlecht in the final day of Champions League action and drew to Hibernian a few matches ago.

The Hoops boss seems to have a logical reason behind his decision however. When speaking to The ScotsmanRodgers notes his preference for starting players that are in form.

"“I’m picking what I think is the best team. Odsonne is coming off a hat-trick against Motherwell recently, where he was brilliant, and he performed well when he came on against Anderlecht in the Champions League. It’s about picking players who are in a good moment and it’s a long season."

The comments from Rodgers seem rather strange, as both Dembele and Odsonne have been goalless in their last three fixtures.

Yet, it’s looking like Griffiths is committed to Rodgers’ decision making. The striker put a message out on Twitter that makes fans think he supports the manager all the way.

Celtic cannot afford to make Griffiths unhappy, however. Sooner or later, Leigh is going to have to find his way into the starting lineup. If Griffiths doesn’t, the rumor pot is only going to continue to boil around Rodgers, Griffiths, and Celtic which is never a good thing.
