Celtic's left-back situation is worth keeping an eye on going into the summer transfer window. Greg Taylor has not agreed an extension so far and while the door is not closed on the situation just yet, it feels very unlikely that he will remain at Parkhead, having let things drag on for so long. Of course, the Hoops won't need a starter next season, as Kieran Tierney is set to return.

Tierney's injury problems are no secret though. So, the club will need to be careful with how much they play him and will need to have a reliable back-up available at all times.

Celtic do have Jeffrey Schlupp at the club right now. While most fans seem to have already counted the Crystal Palace loanee out, it looks like the situation around his future at Parkhead has not gone cold just yet.

As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic have been talking to Schlupp about the possibility of extending his stay in Glasgow. If neither he nor Taylor stay, the club will go into the market for another left-back.

Schlupp was signed by the club in the winter. It was a result of Alex Valle leaving in the middle of the season to join Como FC.

And to be honest, very honest, Schlupp was brilliant early on in his run at Celtic Park. His performance against Bayarn Munich away at the Allianz Arena was a particular highlight and fans were calling for him to be signed on a long-term basis immediately.

Since then, Schlupp seems to have lost his form though. He is playing a role off the bench now. As we all know, opinions can change very quickly in football and now, rarely is anyone calling for his stay to be extended.

That being said, if Taylor does end up leaving, it would not be a bad idea to try and keep Schlupp. His contract at Crystal Palace runs out in the summer and he is set to be available as a free agent. The Ghana international is a proven talent and a reliable option to have around, which is what the Hoops will need when Tierney is around.

Leicester City are also believed to be eyeing their former player after being relegated though. So, there is going to be some competition for his signature in the summer window.
