While Celtic aim to win the treble, it looks like all the talk around the Rangers right now is regarding a potential takeover and their next manager after it was confirmed that Barry Ferguson's time as head coach was over. Steven Gerrard is viewed as the favourite for the Ibrox job right now and an even more fascinating rumour has emerged in recent days.

That has seen Jordan Henderson being linked with a move to the Rangers. Now, remember, he is still being picked for the England national team squad.

But not only that, it has been suggested that Henderson will move to Ibrox to be part of Gerrard's backroom team. Now, will this be a player-coach role or a complete move into coaching? That is unclear from the speculation.

Henderson can still play at a decent level. He is currently at Ajax and was heavily linked with a winter move to AS Monaco, although it did not happen. And at 34 years of age, one would imagine that he still has a few years left in the tank. So, considering how things have gone for the Rangers lately, any move would be very risky.

One would imagine that if Henderson wants a start in coaching, he would not have too tough of a time getting one at Liverpool, where he is a legend. That might be a much safer route considering the Rangers have had five different managers in the last four seasons.

What if Gerrard, in the hypothetical situation that he is appointed in the first place, ends up getting sacked? What would that mean for Henderson and his future at Ibrox?

A perfect example of this would be how things turned out for Scott Brown, when he joined Aberdeen as a player-coach. Broony did not even get a proper retirement.
