Celtic beat Dundee 2-1 on Sunday to keep themselves in the title race, and Hoops legend Scott Brown has praised one player in particular who he thought stood out.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound after the game, Brown said: "Yang, he has put a power of work in, off the ball as well. He’s underestimated.
"I know we talk about Daizen Maeda all the time, but Yang does put in so much work rate for the team off the ball.
"On the ball, people always expect him to do things, but people forget about that side of the game."
Brown isn't wrong with his assessment. Indeed, Yang is often overlooked. His performances have been quite impressive for most of the season, yet he doesn't get the praise that some other players do.
Last month, the winger even broke a Scottish Premiership record. Thanks to his double against Motherwell at Parkhead, he is the all-time South Korean goalscorer in the league. He overtook former Celt Hyeon-gyu Oh, and he'll likely hold that title for the foreseeable future.
Oftentimes, he pops up and makes an impact, using his dribbling to his advantage, as seen in Glasgow derbies this campaign. Although the whole squad haven't really been at it, Yang is a player who we should be able to rely on going forward.
Yang is just one of the players who can help in the title race
The South Korean is just one of many players who will be able to help us out in the title race. Martin O'Neill has talented squad members at his disposal, such as Kieran Tierney and Marcelo Saracchi, among others.
Recently though, players haven't looked good. That is going to be a problem if they can't recapture their form. Everyone needs to be pulling in the same direction, and if someone isn't willing to, they should be dropped as soon as possible.
Yang isn't the only player who deserves a start, as Kelechi Iheanacho scored the all-important winner at Dens Park. Tomas Cvancara missed a sitter earlier in the game, so could the difference in performance be enough to convince the manager?
Iheanacho is likely to leave in the summer, but he seems willing to give it his all before he departs. He could still win a contract extension, but considering he has disappeared from the squad before, it wouldn't be a surprise if that were to happen again.
He has goals to give though, and hopefully, we will be able to use both him and Yang to our advantage in this intense title race.
