Celtic were linked with multiple Liverpool players this summer but did not end up signing any of them. That did not stop the Hoops from making plenty of additions to their side though. They made seven permanent signings in the recently closed transfer window, while Alex Valle arrived on loan from FC Barcelone to compete with Greg Taylor for the left-back spot.

Now, Celtic fans must be pretty happy with the club's decision to sign Kasper Schmeichel over the summer. The Denmark international has yet to concede a goal in league competition and looks like the real deal, even at 37 years of age.

That does not mean that he is a long-term solution between the posts though. Someone like Caoimhin Kelleher could have been the one to fill that role. But despite all the exit rumours, and Liverpool signing Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, the Irish international still finds himself at Anfield.

Recently, Kelleher publicly talked of his desire to go out and play as a number one somewhere. And following those comments, Celtic have emerged as the bookmakers' favourites to land the signature of the Liverpool goalkeeper.

Whenever given a chance, Kelleher has impressed for Liverpool. But that has not been enough to earn him the starting role over Alisson.

Set to turn 26 years of age this November, Kelleher is at a point in his career when he needs to play regular first-team football. So, his desire to leave Liverpool is understandble.

Will Celtic make a move for him in the future? Only time shall tell. If the transfer fee makes sense for them, there is no reason not to. Kelleher could solve the club's long-running issue of struggling to find a long-term goalkeeper. But Liverpool are believed to have already turned down significant offers for their backup option to Alisson in goal.
