After a lot of recent discussion over whether Luis Palma will return to Celtic or not, it seems as though he will have other options, with LaLiga side Sevilla being extremely interested in his services.
The winger has been enjoying his loan spell at Lech Poznan so far, coming off the bench at the weekend, bagging a goal and recording an assist in just 20 minutes as he helped his side to a comeback.
Poznan are interested in signing him permanently, but a potential deal would shatter their record transfer fee, making it unlikely. So, they'll have to settle for the little time they have left for the winger, but Palma won't be short of options when he returns to Parkhead.
RecordSport revealed on Tuesday that Sevilla are considering making a move for the winger, either on a loan or permanent basis. The deal would only be possible if they survive relegation. They are currently two points clear of the drop zone, but seem confident that they can stay up.
Palma is eager to prove himself in the hoops though, with him revealing at the end of last month that he wants a second chance.
He said: "I had a great time at Celtic. I really enjoyed it. I’d like a second chance; I’m still under contract with them, I’m still part of the club, and if they say I need to come back, I’ll do my very best. My dream is to return to a top-flight league; for me, the Scottish league was a top-flight league."
Supporters are still torn, but there are a group of fans who believe that he has done enough. Whether the next manager will view it that way is yet to be seen.
Celtic are in a strong position
The Hoops are in a strong position when it comes to Palma. His fate is in their hands. The player is keen to stay, but a move to LaLiga, a league that Celtic are scouting themselves, could be appealing for both him and the club. We'll need to wait and see what option he fancies.
The player is valued at €4.5 million, which would likely be an affordable fee for Sevilla if they avoided relegation. Playing against the likes of Real Madrid in the Spanish top flight might catch his eye, but Celtic having European football swings things in our favour.
In his Parkhead career so far, Palma has scored 10 goals in 48 appearances for the Hoops, with 10 assists. His contract isn't set to expire until 2028, meaning that we have the advantage as we aren't set to lose him anytime soon.
