Since arriving at Celtic Park in the summer transfer window, Leicester City legend Kasper Schmeichel has gone from strength to strength. It is telling of his longevity that he continues to perform at the highest level even at 38 years of age and not for a second has he looked out of place between the posts for the Hoops.

The Premier League and FA Cup winner will be hoping for more silverware in Glasgow. Given the terrific start to the season that the Hoops have made, he looks well-positioned to do that.

Heading into the November international break, Celtic are top of the Scottish Premiership. At the weekend, it was another win away from home against Kilmarnock, keeping a clean sheet and establishing their stay atop the table.

Kris Boyd praised Schmeichel after the game. Moreover, he compared him to his legendary father, Peter, who is recognised as one of the best goalkeepers of all time.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Boyd said regarding Schmeichel while making the comparison on Sky Sports Football:

"I know you never want to be compared, but when you look back at his father, the way he commanded the box and made himself as big as he possibly could and he does exactly the same. He has been a top keeper for years. It’s no surprise to see him come into this league, where it’s difficult to play in. But also in a Celtic jersey to replace Joe Hart and see the performances he is putting in. Over the course and distance of his career, he has been excellent."

It is unlikely that Schmeichel will have any interest in the comparisons to his father at this point in his career. He is a legend in his own right.

Playing in Scotland is different to playing in England. Most notably, playing for Celtic is different to playing for Leicester City. While the Foxes were the underdogs, the Hoops are very much the favourites in Scotland, and expected to win almost every time they step foot on a pitch.

Therefore, nobody knew how to predict Schmeichel's time at Celtic Park. Especially considering the fact that he is in the twilight of his career.

However, Celtic have not minded one bit about any of those factors and it has paid off. No goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets in the Scottish Premiership this season than Schmeichel with nine. Long may he continue to shine.
