Cameron Carter-Vickers' fitness has been a worry for Celtic for the past couple of seasons. Last season, he had several spells out on the sidelines and the team clearly struggled in his absence. In this campaign, he has already had one spell out and once again, the Hoops were nowhere near their best during that period of time, even conceding seven goals away to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

So, it is only natural that Celtic fans were worried when Carter-Vickers missed training after the RB Leipzig game. That has now been followed up by him missing the matchday squad against Kilmarnock.

So, it is easy to understand why many fans are worried that Carter-Vickers is injured again. And while that is not far from the truth, he looks set to be available soon.

Carter-Vickers seems to be dealing with fatigue in his hamstring, which is why he was left out of the Kilmarnock game. But he should be back in action after the international break. As reported by The National, Brendan Rodgers said to Sky Sports:

"He's OK. Clearly not perfect or else he would've been here today. He had three games in a short period of time after being out for a little period.

"So he done Dundee, Aberdeen and RB Leipzig in close proximity in terms of games. He just felt a little bit of fatigue in his hamstring with the work that we've put into him.

"But nothing serious. We didn't want to risk anything today, he will recover, and then obviously be ready for Hearts when we come back."

Of course, there is no reason to risk any injury with Carter-Vickers. The upcoming international break will give him the time he needs to recover.

Obviously, his constant dealing with fitness issues is not ideal. One can only hope that he will eventually be able to put these constant problems behind him and be consistently available.

In the absence of Carter-Vickers, Celtic have two very capable centre-backs in the form of Auston Trusty and Liam Scales. Admittedly, the summer signing does not look as assured in this role as does while playing alongside his American teammate but still, their clean sheet away in Bergamo against Atalanta is proof of their quality as well.
