Former Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-gyu could be set for a blockbuster move to the Premier League, with both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur interested in his services.
The South Korean joined Besiktas from Belgian side Genk in February, and since arriving in Turkey, he has been fantastic. He established himself as a key player for his new side, and he currently has seven goals and two assists in ten appearances.
In total, across both his clubs, he has netted 17 times. Besiktas fans have already taken to him as well, with 10,000 Oh shirts being purchased during his first supporter signing event.
Despite making an impact since leaving Celtic, he is keen on returning to the UK, but this time, to England. United and Spurs are both keen on his services, and both sides are closely monitoring his development.
United would likely lead the race for his signature if Spurs were to get relegated, as he may want to try his hand in the English top flight. It seems like he would fit right into the squad at Old Trafford, so they may look to move sooner rather than later.
As for Spurs, they have an appeal for the player as they have a large South Korean fanbase. This is thanks to former captain Son Heung-min, and they view this as a key factor in a potential deal being struck.
Celtic should regret letting Oh go
Celtic should really regret letting Oh go. It didn't take an expert to see that there was talent there despite most considering him a flop, and it certainly could have been harnessed in Glasgow if the club had handled his development right.
Now, the Hoops instead struggle with no reliable options up front. Tomas Cvancara has only found the net twice, and Johnny Kenny was sent out on loan for being unreliable. Daizen Maeda is very out of form, Kelechi Iheanacho occasionally goes missing, and Junior Adamu is seemingly a lost cause.
If we had a good striker like Oh, our fortunes could be very different. Right now, Celtic are in a three-way title race with Hearts and Rangers. The Jambos lead the race, with the Gers in second place. There are still plenty of split games to come though, but we'll need to be at our absolute best to get anything out of them.
We will need to bring in a new No. 9 through the door in the summer transfer window. Fingers crossed that we can move quickly, because if you're not fast, you're last.
