Over the past few years, one thing Celtic have gotten wrong more often than not is their recruitment. The club have brought in plenty of players, but not enough who have made an impact. That being said, there are also those who have flopped at Parkhead before going on to achieve success elsewhere.

Celtic have found their best recent recruitment successes during Ange Postecoglou's run as manager. One who could not make his presence felt during that period was Oh Hyeon-gyu.

Oh was brought in as the replacement for Giorgos Giakoumakis in early 2023. But the South Korean international would never get consistent starts during his time at Celtic Park, and eventually left for Genk.

Oh has proven to be a success story at Genk though. In the summer, he looked to be in line for a £24 million move to the Bundesliga but it collapsed at the last-minute. Since then, his transfer valuation has dropped significantly, but he still looks to be on his way out of the Belgian club.

As reported by The National, Oh is set to make a £10 million move to Besiktas. It will mean a transfer windfall for Celtic as well.

The Hoops included a sell-on fee when Oh made the move to Genk two years ago in a £3 million deal. So, it should represent a decent figure for Celtic, even though it will only be a fraction of what they could have pocketed if the £24 million summer move had gone through.

Let's see what the future holds for Celtic. The Hoops need to strengthen their own striker ranks and have brought in Tomas Cvancara on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach. But another addition might be needed in that area of the pitch.
