Celtic flop Wilfried Nancy could be set to land a new job, which would be his first following his dire spell at Parkhead. Nancy, who arrived with a modern approach, lasted only 33 days at Parkhead before being canned following six defeats in eight.

The Bhoys have typically made good managerial decisions over the last decade, but Nancy was a rare black mark, and indeed a rare gamble, given his lack of experience in Europe.

The 49-year-old had done well in MLS, and he is very much a tactical coach, but that did not translate at Celtic, where he was perhaps not helped by coming in during the season following Brendan Rodgers' exit.

Nancy being linked to coveted Ligue 1 job

Nancy is now said to be among the favourites for the Strasbourg job. According to reports, the Frenchman is in talks with the club over taking the helm, replacing Gary O'Neill.

O'Neill had been hired to replace Liam Rosenior, who left for Chelsea only to fail to impress all too quickly.

The Strasbourg is a coveted job due to it being a BlueCo club, and there are strong links to Chelsea, who have the same owners. The club's ownership also helps increase the club's profile, and they expect to compete for Europe, even though they missed out last season.

It would be a fine job for Nancy to bounce back from his Celtic spell, and a good opportunity to prove people wrong, given his reputation was damaged by the tough time he had in Scotland.

What Nancy has said about Celtic spell

Nancy has previously said of his time in Scotland: "It was funny, at certain moments funny, I don't know if this is a good word, but when I was doing the media, when I was at Celtic, they were talking to me like I did nothing.

"Again, this is something the challenge that I had, this is something that I really embraced because, despite everything that you just described

"We went also to the Champions League final, we played against a big team in Mexico, and when we play in Mexico this is so difficult because there is the altitude and the level is really good too.

"And we played in front of 60,000 people and the passion in Mexico is similar to in Europe. So, I've been there. I knew what I wanted to do and I knew what I did and I'm really pleased with what I did."
