Wilfried Nancy has been breaking records since becoming the Celtic manager. All the wrong ones though. We always knew it was going to be a difficult start for him. But nobody could have predicted that he would lose his first four games in charge. The Frenchman looks completely out of his depth, has already burned bridges with a large section of the fanbase with his comments in the media and does not seem cut out for the job at hand.

There is a feeling of inevitability around his departure. Ideally, fans would want the club to make a change as soon as possible. But then again, that would be an admission that the board had gotten the appointment terribly wrong. That is not something they would be keen to do.

So, expect the Celtic board to give Nancy every chance possible to turn it around. And judging from Michael Nicholson's comments, it does not look like the club have any plans of sacking Nancy despite his disastrous start to life at Parkhead.

As reported by Football Transfers, Celtic CEO Nicholson said:

"We are absolutely solid behind Wilfried Nancy.

“We know where we want to go and our job is to support Nancy to take us where we want to get to.

“I met with him this week to discuss recruitment in January, and also looking ahead to the summer transfer window.

“We have a project to support here, and we are excited about where we are going to get to. But it’s going to take time. It is still just 2 weeks since Wilfried Nancy’s appointment."

Of course, a large section of the fanbase would like to see Nicholson leave himself. But he has now given his backing to Nancy, a clear sign that neither is headed for the exit door anytime soon.

The update will only raise the frustration among the fanbase. Somehow, it looks like things are only getting worse for the club everyday.

Just look at the horror start the Rangers had made to the season, eventually sacking Russell Martin after just 123 days in charge. Despite that, they are merely three points behind Celtic in the league right now.

Yet, it does not look like the Celtic board are planning to make any significant changes or feel the need to. Now, it remains to be seen how the fans react to this public stance.
