Five Celtic Women players have been called up to represent their country for the upcoming international break. After the defeat to Rangers for the Ghirls last time out, hopefully a brief stop in the action will help the squad out in the long run.
Celtic players to watch on international duty
Saoirse Noonan (Ireland)
Emma Lawton (Scotland)
Lisa Rodgers (Scotland U23s)
Darra Dawson (Scotland U19s)
Sienna McGoldrick [Loaned Out] (Scotland U19s)
The Fixture List
Noonan will join up with the Republic of Ireland as they face off against Poland home and away.
The striker has been featuring for the Hoops recently and has become a mainstay in her national team, so it's no surprise that she has been called up again. She will be playing in the same team as former Celtic defender Caitlin Hayes.
Lawton is also a player who is becoming a regular for her country. Called up yet again by Melissa Andreatta, Scotland will be facing off against Belgium twice.
The home fixture will take place at Easter Road in Edinburgh, where the Scots will be looking to pick up a win. Maria McAneny was meant to be playing a part, but had to pull out of the squad through injury, replaced by Rangers' Jodi McLeary.
Rodgers will be featuring for the Under-23s and heads to Spain, where they will take on France, before facing either the USA or Denmark. It will be a tough test for the young goalkeeper, but hopefully she can find her way onto the park.
Dawson and McGoldrick are set to take on North Macedonia, Norway and Austria. All three fixtures will be hosted in Scotland, and the two Celts will be hoping to feature as they push for their place in the Euros.
Sad for McAneny, but she will hopefully return soon
Sadly, McAneny has to miss out on this Scotland camp due to injury, but hopefully, she will be back in time to help Celtic out after the break.
With the defeat to the Gers last time out, the Hoops took a major hit in the title race. Now sitting six points behind Hearts in the top spot, it's going to be difficult for Grant Scott's side to fight back.
Losing McAneny for the derby was a major hit, and we really felt it. She has been one of the best attacking options this season, so hopefully, her injury isn't too serious and we'll see her feature again before the end of the season.
