Celtic made an array of signings last summer, but few lived up to expectations. The Hoops endured a tumultuous season with three managers in charge. Brendan Rodgers began the campaign, before Martin O'Neill came in on an interim basis.
Wilfried Nancy then had a disastrous stint before they returned to O'Neill. Despite this, Celtic still managed to win the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup; this was largely thanks to the summer signings that did perform.
There were multiple flops of last summer's signings, too. A year on, we can rank them, and with the benefit of hindsight, Celtic can learn from its mistakes. Perhaps it was too many changes too quickly that led to the Hoops' mixed campaign.
Ranking every Celtic signing from the 2025 summer transfer window
1. Benjamin Nygren
Benjamin Nygren arrived at Celtic last summer from Nordsjælland for a fee believed to be in the region of £2 million. He has proved that he should have been worth far more than that by scoring 21 goals with nine assists in 58 games in all competitions.
The attacking midfielder went on to be a part of Sweden's squad for the World Cup. He has even been linked with Everton of the Premier League. Celtic will do well to keep hold of the 25-year-old.
2. Kieran Tierney
Having Kieran Tierney return to Celtic was a big boost for supporters. Tierney had already won four Scottish Premiership titles in his first stint with the Hoops. He then went to Arsenal, where he won the FA Cup. Whilst with the Gunners, he also had a loan spell at Real Sociedad.
Tierney is only 29, but his experience at the back was invaluable for the Hoops last season. He also contributed going forward, scoring six goals with 12 assists in 53 games in all competitions. He also went to the World Cup with Scotland.
3. Kelechi Iheanacho
Kelechi Iheanacho was with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City. However, his stint with the Hoops was marred by injuries. When Iheanacho did play, he performed, scoring nine goals with one assist in 24 games in total. This included a goal in the Scottish Cup final against Dunfermline Athletic.
Iheanacho was also instrumental in the final league game of the season. Celtic were trailing Heart of Midlothian by a goal when the Nigerian came on at half-time. He helped turn the game around as the Hoops claimed the Scottish Premiership by winning 3-1. Despite this, he was transferred to the Turkish side, Bursaspor, this summer.
4. Marcelo Saracchi
Marcelo Saracchi joined on loan from Boca Juniors and was a solid backup option to Tierney at left-back. His stint was disrupted by a hamstring injury, and he now plays for the Houston Dynamo in MLS.
5. Sebastian Tounekti
Sebastian Tounekti was signed from Hammarby for a fee of around ÂŁ5.5 million. However, the left-winger managed to score just five times with three assists in 46 games last season. Despite his mixed form for the Hoops, he still earned a call-up for Tunisia at the World Cup.
6. Callum Osmand
Callum Osmand joined Celtic from Fulham's academy. However, he barely featured due to fitness issues. However, he scored and made an assist against Hearts on the final day of the season as the Hoops secured the title.
7. Ross Doohan
Ross Doohan returned to Celtic last summer from Aberdeen as an experienced backup goalkeeper. The 28-year-old did not play in a single game. In his two stints at Celtic, he has yet to make a senior appearance.
8. Jahmai Simpson-Pusey
Expectations were high for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey as he came on loan from Manchester City. However, he made just one appearance for the Hoops before being recalled by City. He went to FC Köln on loan for the second half of last season before joining the Bundesliga side permanently.
9. Shin Yamada
Shin Yamada joined Celtic for a fee in the region of ÂŁ1.5 million from the Japanese side, Kawasaki Frontale. However, the striker made 11 appearances for the Hoops without scoring. He was sent on loan to PreuĂźen MĂĽnster, as they were relegated from Bundesliga 2. He has now been loaned out to the Belgian Pro League side Oud-Heverlee Leuven.
10. Hayato Inamura
Hayato Inamura is another player from Japan who failed to live up to expectations. The defender made just one appearance for Celtic before being sent on loan to FC Tokyo. He has since joined Tokyo permanently.
11. Michel-Ange Balikwisha
The biggest flop of last summer's signings was Michel-Ange Balikwisha, who joined from Royal Antwerp for a fee of around ÂŁ5 million. The winger made 14 appearances for the Hoops without scoring and making just two assists. Balikwisha has been frozen out at Celtic, but there have not been many rumours as to where he could be off to next.
