There have been plenty of figures good and bad in Celtic's season. Wilfried Nancy's 33 day tenure will go down in infamy while, at the other end of the spectrum, Daizen Maeda has really stepped up in recent weeks, scoring six goals in his last four matches. However, the contribution of Kieran Tierney, despite being a bona fide fans' favourite, is seemingly going under the radar.
The left-back set up Maeda's crucial go ahead goal shortly after half time in Sunday's derby win, getting on the end of Liam Scales' lofted ball over the top before squaring it for the Japanese forward for tuck home. This continues the 28 year old's excellent campaign in terms of attacking output.

Tierney's statistics this season have been very impressive, including racking up almost 3,700 minutes of action, missing only a couple of games due to injury. No matter who has been in charge of Celtic this season, his minutes have been carefully managed, as they will need to be for the rest of his career.
In terms of output, only Benjamin Nygren, Maeda, Yang Hyun-jun and Kelechi Ịheanachọ have scored more goals than Tierney's six to date. Meantime, the left-back leads the way with 12 assists, also ranked second when it comes to big chances created, expected assists and key passes per game, showing that he is a key man in how this team attacks.
So, how do Tierney's numbers stack up compared to his previous campaigns in Glasgow?

The numbers show that this is Tierney's best season in terms of goals and assists during his time at Celtic. His tally of 12 assists matches what he reached during the Invincible treble campaign of 12, while six of the 14 goals he has scored for the club have come since returning.
The Scotland international was little more than a peripheral figure at Arsenal last year, racking up only 447 minutes and starting just four times. Thus, perhaps that break from regular intense action has helped him stay fit this time round after returning home. Celtic have two more Premiership matches this season, both of which are must win if they're to snatch the title away from Hearts, before the Scottish Cup Final against Dunfermline at Hampden.
Thus if Martin O'Neill's team are going to end up hoisting two trophies aloft across the next two weekends, Tierney will continue to be a key figure.
