David Moyes has been linked with the Celtic job on quite a few occasions. What many might not realise is that that would represent a return for him as it is with the Hoops that he began his playing career, back in 1980. While that has never happened, he did make a comeback not too long ago, going back to Everton.

It is with Everton that Moyes has found most of his success in management and during his first spell, he spent over a decade at the Merseyside club before leaving to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. We all know how that worked out for him.

Everton have improved a lot since the reappointment of Moyes as manager. The Toffees have climbed up to 13th in the Premier League table. Remarkably, that is ahead of his former sides Manchester United and West Ham.

Being Everton manager means that he will be competing with Liverpool at all times as well. Moyes was recently informed about Virgil van Dijk's contract extension with the Merseyside club and he did not forget to mention his Celtic past when replying. While talking to Sky Sports Premier League, he said:

"He's been a terrific player for Celtic and he's certainly been a terrific player for Liverpool."

Considering what Van Dijk has achieved since joining Liverpool, it is very easy to forget about the clubs he represented in the past. But he was brilliant during his two years at Celtic as well.

It is good to see that someone like Moyes recognises what Van Dijk achieved at Celtic. Perhaps that is because he has a past with the Hoops of his own, that many seem to have forgotten about.

Anyways, it is good to see Van Dijk continue at Liverpool. He has certainly had quite the career there and perhaps it would be best if he ends up retiring while still playing at Anfield.
