One thing that Celtic did quite often during Brendan Rodgers' first spell at Parkhead was signing players from Manchester City. Patrick Roberts and Daniel Arzani were brought in on loan deals while Olivier Ntcham was signed on a permanent basis. This summer, they should revisit that habit and look towards Pep Guardiola's side once again.
Celtic could do with another option up top. But considering the form Daizen Maeda is in, and the transfer fee they shelled out last summer to sign Adam Idah from Norwich City, do not expect the Scottish champions to make a significant investment in that area of the pitch.
Perhaps a loan deal for a rising Manchester City player, like Roberts and Arzani in the past, could make sense. The English club certainly have a fantastic record in recent years when it comes to identifying and developing talents.
Someone like Divin Mubama could be perfect for Celtic, whether signed on loan or on a permanent basis. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists in just 9 Premier League 2 appearances this season.
Celtic must sign Manchester City forward this summer
Mubama has scored at the senior level as well, in the two appearances that he has made. He found the back of the net against Salford in the FA Cup earlier in the season.
Mubama is a phenomenal talent, there is no doubt about that. But it is hard to imagine that he will get too many chances at Manchester City next season.
So, a loan deal could make sense. And if he is made available, Celtic should definitely try to make a move happen. Someone like him could be an excellent addition to Rodgers' squad and potentially have a similar impact to Roberts all those years back.
