Celtic are said to be pushing for a deal to sign Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Balazs Toth. The Hoops are in need of a goalkeeper after losing Kasper Schmeichel to retirement at the end of last season.
Viljami Sinisalo filled in during Schmeichel's injury issues last season, and he has started this season as the stand-in number one, but Martin O'Neill wants more competition.
Blackburn's starting keeper Toth has now emerged as a target, and Celtic are said to be making progress.
Celtic progressing with Balazs Toth move
According to HazzaXtra, Celtic have held talks with Blackburn over a move, and Rovers are said to be asking for £4million in total, though they are open to add-ons. Former Blackburn striker Rudy Gestede is said to be leading the talks with the Bhoys.
Toth is Blackburn's starting keeper, and he started their opening game of the Championship season on Friday night, which was a 2-2 draw with one of the Championship favourites, Wolves.
Celtic have not made a formal offer yet, according to the report, but they do now know what it will take to get a deal done, and they will have to decide on their next steps. Toth will be cheaper than Las Palmas goalkeeper Dinko Horkas, who has also been linked, with the Croatian expected to cost at least £6million.
Toth impressed for Rovers last season, with then manager Michael O'Neill saying: "[Balazs Toth] has been top-class from the moment I came into the building. He has that ability to make that big save, not only in a game like this that didn't have anything riding on it, but also in the key games he made big, big saves. That's a sign of a top-class goalkeeper."
The 28-year-old has seven caps for Hungary, and he has been with Rovers for just one season before this one, joining from Fehérvár.
