Daizen Maeda seems set to leave Celtic, according to Football Insider.

The 28-year-old joined the Hoops in 2022 and has become a mainstay in the team under the likes of Ange Postecoglou, Brendan Rodgers and Martin O'Neill. Recently, he has fallen out of form, with him looking like a shadow of the player he once was. Now, it seems that the Bhoys are ready to cash in before it's too late.

The Hoops hierarchy believes that there is "no chance" the winger will sign a new deal with the club, with him reportedly being eager to try out a new challenge elsewhere. The club are willing to let him leave before his contract expires in the summer of 2027.

We don't currently have an idea of any clubs that may be interested, but Maeda has previously attracted interest from the likes of the Premier League.

When a player wants to leave, let them leave

Maeda is the perfect example of when a player wants to leave, you should let them leave. He was at the top of his game a year or two ago, with reports saying that clubs were willing to pay upwards of £25 million for his services. Now, it's unlikely that Celtic will get even a fraction of that, with his performances having taken a steep decline in recent months.

Ultimately, a move wasn't sanctioned because Rodgers ruled him too important to the team. Although some may have loved that at the time, now, a lot of supporters are wishing the Bhoys had cashed in when they had the chance.

Celtic look set to change their squad completely in the summer, should finances allow it, with the Glasgow giants already being interested in players from around the world.

Not only are they keen on a 29-goal attacking duo from English League One, but Celtic scouts have already been spotted watching young striker Ali Avila, who the Hoops could potentially land for under £4 million.

This interest says a lot about the summer rebuild, with O'Neill confirming recently that the club are taking a hard look at how their recruitment system works. Whoever comes in the job next will hopefully have a much better time on the transfer side of things, but only time will tell.

As for outgoings, it looks like Celtic may choose to move on Luis Palma, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Auston Trusty, among others. These are just a few names who could potentially be on the chopping block, but it wouldn't be a surprise if there are even more out the door.
